Taxus canadensis is a prostrate, slow growing, evergreen shrub. Needle-like foliage is very dense, dark green and glossy, can get a red tinge in the winter. The fruit is a red seed, 1/4 inch long. Prefers moist, sandy loam, not heat or drought tolerant, not bothered by pests. A very hardy yew, suitable as a large groundcover in cool, shady locations.
